Energy bringing positive outlook into match vs SKC II

The OKC Energy have a chance to gain their first victory of 2021 on the road Friday night against Sporting Kansas City II.

The Energy have opened their season with back-to-back losses, however, there is no sign of disbelief or panic from the Greens.

Midfielder Arun Basuljevic is confident in the squad‘s mindset to take on a proven opponent in Kansas City, who could boast some MLS caliber players in the match.

“There’s a lot of positivity and no one is hanging their heads,” he said. “Each and every day is an opportunity to get better and improve.”

Following last Saturday’s 1-0 loss to Atlanta United 2, Energy Head Coach John Pascarella elaborated on this week’s training focus before the third match of the season.

“We’re going to work on our form in the final third and continue to gel in that part of the field,” he said. “Both of our top strikers are down. (Jonothan Brown) has done a great job but he’s not a natural center forward, so that’s a sacrifice and we’re aware of it.”

With one goal netted in 180+ minutes, by defender Conor Donovan in the first game against FC Tulsa, the offense is continuing to find their rhythm in the new USL Championship season.

The Energy bring an 0-0-2 record into tonight’s matchup with SKC II who lost their season opener. The match will take place at Children’s Mercy Park in Kansas City at 7 p.m. and can be streamed on ESPN+.
